The Soundtrack blog did a little digging today with regards to music beyond the Hunger Games movie soundtrack. We discovered a video for a song called 'Deep in the Meadow'...Read more
Hanna Star performed live in Memphis at the historic Levitt Shell in Overton Park (the same stage where Elvis and Johnny Cash performed) on Earth Day - Sunday, April 22nd, 2012 at 3:00 pm. Hanna performed seven songs. Other performers include Jack Oblivian and Steve Selvidge.

Hanna Mildred McCarthy is a 13 year old girl who lives in Memphis, Tennessee. She began playing guitar in fourth grade at Campus School and joined Choir soon after. Hanna has always loved to sing. In 2010, Hanna began to perform live and has played on live bills in Memphis with Judith Stevens, The River City Tanlines, Olga, The Magic Kids; and was the first performer to play historic A.Schwab on Beale Street with Jason Freeman, The Memphis Dawls, and Amy LaVere.
Hanna recorded her very first songs with Tearjerkers keyboardist Adam Woodard in 2010. Soon after she formed HANNA STAR, a sort of 'one girl band', with lots of help from many talented friends. Working on the current idea of producing an extended play record, Hanna Star has just completed session-time with award-winning engineer Jeff Powell. Her new collaborators are bass player Joe Boone ( Big Ass Truck, Delta Queens, Island 45 ), percussionist Paul Taylor ( Amy LaVere, The Pirates, DDT ), and lead guitar from Alicja Trout ( River City Tanlines, Black Sunday, Mouse Rocket ). The Memphis Dawls' Krista Wroten Combest and Jana Misener played violin and cello respectively.
Whereas her very first song "Life of a Hero" had been inspired by Rick Riordan's "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series of books, her latest song (and new video!) "Deep in the Meadow" is an original arrangement inspired by Suzanne Collins "The Hunger Games". To say that Hanna is fan of the series would be an understatement!
Please enjoy these two offerings and join the HANNA STAR mailing list (by downloading the song above). She will soon have t-shirts, buttons, and a brand new record release of HANNA STAR slated for Summer, 2012!
